The Blue Lion - Player's Championship

Our Second Golf Event for 2018 is The Player's Championship. Hosted on Saturday 12th May at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club. 

The Day will include, Bacon Rolls with Tea/Coffee on arrival, a Drink with Buffet on return to the Blue Lion once the competition has been completed. 

The Overall winner will receive their name on the trophy, a Cash Prize & FREE entry into the 2019 Player's Championship.

Side competitions for Longest Drive & Nearest the Pin will also be taking place with Prizes for the winners of each.

All for only £35 per person, book now to avoid disappointment.

April's Live Music brings Dayton Grey to The Blue Lion. Debuting here on Friday April 27th, we're sure it'll be a good night for all to enjoy. THE BLUE LION OPEN

2018's Blue Lion Open is taking place on Sunday 15th April. The one-day Stableford competition is being held at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club with a Bacon Roll with Tea/Coffee on Arrival and an Inclusive Drink with Buffet on return to The Blue Lion once the competition has been completed.

The overall winner will get their name on our own Claret Jug along with a Cash Prize. They will also receive FREE Entry into the 2019 Open.

GIN NIGHT - in association with Fever Tree

As Gin is becoming ever popular, and we have a wide variety that we stock ourselves, from Traditional London Dry, Sloe, Raspberry to Rhubarb. 

With Fever Tree we have organised "An Evening of Gin" where you will be able to Pair, Make & Taste FOUR specially selected Gins that you may not have tried before and various tonics with the guidance of a Fever Tree representative. 

Tickets are £20 per person and are selling fast. Be sure to book up quick as there are limited spaces. We suggest to arrive for 6:45 latest for a 7:00 start. The event should last roughly 1.5 - 2 hours.

Our restaurant will be open for a short while after the event also should anyone coming to the Gin Night want some food after the event has finished.

FIREWORKS DISPLAY in collaboration with Witherley United Football Club

Our Annual FREE Fireworks display that is held in collaboration with Witherley United Football Club will be held on SATURDAY4th November 2017!

Fireworks will begin from around 7:00pm (approx.) on the Witherley Playing Field. We also have food being served outside on our courtyard to keep everyone warm whilst watching outside along with a BBQ that is being held over on the Football Club. 

Our Restaurant will be serving food indoors as usual between 6-9pm where we would advise to book a table in advance to guarantee a table. 

From 9pm we have the fabulous Echo Bay performing in our bar. The duo have performed several times before at The Blue Lion, including our fireworks celebration in 2016. 

We look forward to what promises to be a fantastic night for all.

2016 Beer & Cider Festival

Our FIRST Beer & Cider Festival takes place from Friday 27th May - Monday 30th May.

We will be having a range of Ales & Ciders for you to come and try over the four days of the Bank Holiday weekend. 

With our range of Ales & Ciders yet to be confirmed, the selection will be varied and many for you to try, all different from one another. Food will also be available both in the restaurant every day and also outside along with the festival.

We will also be having LIVE music on the Friday evening from ECHO BAY, and on Monday we will be having BORDERLINE playing mid-afternoon.

Bank Holiday Charity Football Match

May Day bank holiday will see the second Charity football match that The Blue Lion will face Witherley Football Club. All proceeds will go towards Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Blue Lion will be serving food as normal between 12-2:00pm, before we have a Brass Band performing for everyone to enjoy on our courtyard. The football match will kick-off at 3:30pm, in which we hope a great game such as last year is in the offing. 

Last years match saw the game drawn at 3-3 at full time, with Witherley United taking the spoils on penalties. 

There will also be a Bank Holiday raffle taking place on the day, with fantastic prizes such as a voucher for a meal at DaQuino Restaurant in Tamworth & a voucher to play golf at Lea Marston Hotel & Golf Course plus many more.

We anticipate a great day all-round and of course, any donations towards the charity will be gratefully recieved.

Bonfire Night Celebrations with LIVE music

The annual bonfire night celebrations will take place on Saturday 7th November on Witherley playing fields in collaboration with us at The Blue Lion & Witherley Football Club.

The Fireworks will begin between 7 & 7:30pm. Food is being served in our restaurant as normal between 6 & 9pm but there will be some hot snacks available on our courtyard during the evening such as hot jacket potatoes & a range of fillings to just get you started. 

And for those of you who enjoyed it last year, we will be selling Warm Winter Berry Rekorderlig Cider again! 

After the fireworks, we have LIVE music from Scott & Jenkins - a local music duo who we're sure you're all going to enjoy. They will be performing from 8:30pm inside the pub.

Charity Football Match - Blue Lion vs Witherley Football Club

Monday 31st August 2015 sees the Blue Lion and Witherley Football Club, team up for a special, charitable event. 

It will be a day for all the family to come along and enjoy, with The Blue Lion hosting Live Music on the Courtyard from 2pm onwards, aswell as serving our Light Bites Menu from 12 Noon - 2pm / 6pm - 9pm.

Witherley United Football Club will be hosting a Beer Festival over the whole of the bank holiday weekend, with the final day being Bank Holiday Monday. They will be serving from 12 Noon onwards, with a BBQ starting from 3pm.

There will then also be a Charity football match which will see a team from The Blue Lion, face up against a team from Witherley Football Club. The match will be in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and will take place on Witherley playing field with a 3:30pm Kick Off.

There will also be a Joint Witherley Raffle with plenty of prizes for people of all ages, so be sure to come around or travel to Witherley for what we all hope will be a fantastic day, for a fantastic cause.

Blue Lion Cup

The Blue Lion Cup returns on August Bank Holiday Weekend! 

Team Europe, after winning the first Blue Lion Cup back in May, will be looking to retain the cup from the members of Team USA.

The Competition will be held at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club in Leek Wootton. 

New players are able to join the current teams and join the usual Blue Lion Golf Society and any of their upcoming events.

Prices for the Blue Lion Cup are ONLY £65 per person! 
That Includes Two Rounds of Golf (Saturday 29th August & Sunday 30th August 2015), Food Before & After each days play and Polo Shirt for each player for each team.

After the success of the previous Blue Lion Cup, we expect this to be an excellent weekend of golf!

Blue Lion Golf Society

The Blue Lion Golf Society has been set up after the great success of the first Blue Lion Cup. 

The Society will meet once a month to play around local courses with all the members of the society. All society days will be ONE day events (Sundays) apart from the Blue Lion Cup (Saturday & Sundays).

The next Society Day is to be held at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club at Leek Wootton.

Prices are £35 per person with Food Before and After the days play at The Blue Lion.

Anyone is free to take part, but must sign up at least 2 weeks prior to date of Society Day & payment must be made before the day of play.

Blue Lion Cup

At The Blue Lion, we are now hosting our very own Golf competition; The Blue Lion Cup.

Taking place over the weekend of Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th May at Forest Hill Golf Club at Botcheston.

Two-Team Matchplay format, similar to the Ryder Cup, with both teams being made up of 10 players. Saturdays matches will be two-ball pairings from each team whereas Sundays matches will be singles with both teams aiming for 8 points overall to claim the trophy.

Players will receive food before and after each round back at The Blue Lion all inclusive with the two rounds of golf for only £45.00 per person. (Payment must be made before the day the competition commences)

With spaces filling up fast, be sure to sign up and make one of the teams. Just speak to a member of our staff on site.
